ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Construction Director and based in Taschereau, Brossard, the Buyer, Construction Division, will assist with the purchase of general and specialized equipment, materials and business services for use for the region.

The Buyer will provide technical and administrative support to the division with emphasis on sourcing, negotiating price, issuing purchase orders, assisting in estimating, and providing field staff support.


Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identification of suppliers of materials, equipment and subcontractors;
  • Negotiation with suppliers in order to obtain the best possible quality/price ratio
  • Effective management of purchase orders and followup with suppliers to meet deadlines
  • Evaluation of the costs and quality of goods and/or services received;
  • Ensure the company's quality standards and adherence to procurement policies
  • Ensure the management of an effective partnership with suppliers of products and/or services;
  • Management of problems related to products or services received in order to determine their causes and take corrective and preventive measures;
  • Maintain uptodate information in the various files and internal systems;
  • Processing of daily internal customer requests for materials and services through JD Edwards
  • Participate and assist in procurement activities (purchase orders, expediting, quotations and sourcing)
  • Create/Issue P.O's based on material requisitions or bills of material, invoices or other means
  • Maintain spreadsheets / databases for tracking procurement activities
  • Tracking of material purchase orders to ensure ontime delivery
  • Assist with budgeting and planning, and product development
  • Execute daytoday sourcing requests to ensure project plans and programs are met
  • Ensure appropriate execution and compliance with procurement policies and procedures
  • Carryout the entire sourcing process, starting from identification of bidders and administration of the bidding process by collaboratively engaging all stakeholders including endusers and suppliers/contractors
  • Carryout procurement/contracts negotiation to secure favourable terms and conditions while maximizing value creation

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree or Diploma in supply chain, finance, or other related business field.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 to 5 years of procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Experience working in the electrical, civil engineering and construction field is an important asset for this position;
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, etc. related to civil engineering and construction;

SKILLS, ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven ability to work in a fastpaced, highvolume work environment
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong knowledge of local supply markets, suppliers and regulations. North American market knowledge will be an asset.
  • Good knowledge of procurement systems (i.e. SAP, Ariba, Oracle, JDE, etc.)
  • Highly motivated, efficient and focused
