MAJOR DUTIES:


Assists and supports metal fabricators and other employees in the metal fabrication department to fit together and assemble preformed components of fabricated sheet metal, weldments and metal parts for factory automation projects.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Perform routine tasks related to the metal fabrication and assembly of parts for factory automation equipment.
  • Help Senior Guarding Fabricators install guarding on automated work cells.
  • Cut extruded aluminum using various saws.
  • Read and comprehend various measuring devices.
  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.
  • Load up shelves with various extrusions.
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Work in compliance with divisional health, safety and environmental procedures.
  • Refrain from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockouttagout methods.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or unsafe acts.
  • Report defect in any equipment or protective device.
  • Ensure that the required protective equipment is used for the assigned tasks.
  • Attend all required health, safety and environmental training.
  • Report any accidents/incidents to supervisor.
  • Assist in investigating accidents/incidents.
  • Refrain from engaging in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:


  • A grade 12 diploma specializing in welding and machine shop or equivalent.

Experience:


  • Requires a practical working knowledge of machine shop and metal fabrication procedures, an ability to read blueprints and a good mechanical aptitude.
