The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Data Scientist to join our Global Advanced Customer Analytics team at Manulife/John Hancock.

As part of our Customer Experience (CX) initiative, you will be responsible for developing and implementing robust analytical solutions to identify actionable insights from customer data, enabling us to enhance our products and services to meet customer needs effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze large datasets and prepare data for model development
  • Develop and implement machine learning models to tackle sophisticated business problems, using a variety of algorithms and techniques
  • Work closely with partners to gather requirements, design data models, and implement solutions that meet their needs.
  • Codify processes/techniques/tools into standard methodologies for other data scientists
  • Influence business partners to contribute to and adopt insights from analytics work
  • Innovate and find creative ways to source data to support modeling efforts, using structured and unstructured data Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in AI/ML and related technologies, continuously improving our reporting capabilities.

What we are looking for

  • An advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or another quantitative field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience solving highimpact business problems using data science.
  • Excellent data wrangling, data preprocessing, and data visualization skills
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL and knowledge of agile solution development principles
  • Practical experience with big data processing frameworks, and platforms such as Azure, Databricks, Spark.
  • Excellent communication skills able to translate sophisticated data science concepts to technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Track record of implementing models into production with business value. Previous experience working with customer analytics is an asset.
