The Talent Acquisition Specialist - Leadership is responsible for providing high level support in the planning, organizing, and implementation of talent acquisition initiatives while ensuring corporate consistency, and compliance to applicable procedures, guidelines, legislation and where applicable, collective agreements.

The Talent Specialist is also responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice to hiring managers related to management talent acquisition, including program development and management, and recruitment and selection strategy.

They may provide direction, guidance, support and advice to Talent Acquisition Advisors on internal and external staffing including retention and transition planning for organizational initiatives.

The Talent Specialist also provides feedback to the Manager regarding areas that require improvement.

In this role you will:

  • Provide advice and support to management on all activities related to staffing and other organizational initiatives, referencing, internal programs and recruitment guidelines.
  • Serve as a primary pointof contact for portfolio, providing best practice recommendations for recruiting.
  • Build and maintain a trusted advisor relationships with Business Leaders, Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners
  • Track recruitment and selection metrics and performance and manage the program for your portfolio on a daytoday basis.
  • Plan staffing actions, implementation of organizational changes and compliance requirements with the responsible managers.
  • Lead and perform strategic sourcing and research activities, such as targeted sector and competitor mapping, to identify and build the talent network of your portfolio.
  • Maintain a solid level of industry knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape.
  • Propose change initiatives in recruitment policy as needed and facilitate the change through updating required documentation, providing guidance to the team by preparing communication documents such as Q&A's, and communicating the changes verbally in meetings.

What you bring:

  • Post secondary education in a related field, and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • CHRP designation is an asset
  • 5+ years relevant recruiting experience.
  • Experience as a supervisor, specialist and/or management is an asset.
  • Experience with Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and activities is an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of recognized Human Resources and Talent Acquisition practices through a combination of formal training and experience, including in effective assessment techniques and recruitment strategies to maintain market competitiveness.
  • Ability to navigate collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance techniques to monitor procedures and systems, and ability to note problems and deficiencies and then recommend corporate action.
  • Bilingualism in English and French is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based at Ottawa Head Office but may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement.
  • Occasional travel will be required.
