General Manager, Integrated Operations, Iron Ore Company of Canada - Labrador City, Canada - Rio Tinto
Description
General Manager, Integrated Operations, Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC)
Being one of Rio Tinto's senior leaders means helping to run a company that drives human progress. You are writing the next chapter of our story. You lead some of the industry's best and brightest minds, working to solve the challenges of the 21st century. We offer competitive, performance-focused remuneration and a wide range of benefits to reward your contribution. With a global reach, the opportunities to develop are broad and exciting.
About the role:
We are looking for a General Manager, Integrated Operations Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC), who will play a key leadership role in optimizing business value, while prioritizing safety through the integration of the planning and decision-making functions carried out in key operational areas of the business. This person will also support operations to achieve or exceed 'the plan' through transparent monitoring and initiation of business improvement opportunities.
This role provides networking opportunities directly related to the key accountability of oversight of the entire value chain at IOC, which includes an open pit mine, processing plants, rail, and port facilities and is an incredible development opportunity for someone seeking broader business exposure who is interested in continuing to eventually progress to an executive level role.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer IOC, you'll be accountable for:
Key functions within team include: Operations Centre, Integrated planning, Asset management (including planning, reliability & assurance), Operational growth & innovation (including automation & control), Process safety, and Performance improvement.
What You'll Bring
Solving these problems will require strong analytical capabilities, as well as a thorough understanding of system value drivers, and significant technical expertise. The application of lateral thinking to supply chain issues will be required to drive improvement over time.
The individual will possess a solid understanding of operational activities at a complex mining operation and have an ability to analyse a situation and then translate that complexity into clear objectives for their team in a simple and engaging way. They will be required to problem solve around the constraints identified by local stakeholders (e.g. mines, rail, ports) and use negotiation and influencing skills to negotiate outcomes that create system value while being operationally sound.
About Iron Ore Company of Canada (IOC)
We are a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. With a team of over 2,400 employees, IOC is committed to providing value and continuity for our customers, employees, communities and shareholders through our unique mine to port approach, taking advantage of our full integration and wholly owned infrastructure to deliver our high-quality concentrate and pellets to our customers across the globe.
IOC's operations include a mine with five operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletizing plant located near Labrador City in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also operate a wholly-owned 418 km railway, the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway (QNS&L), that links our Labrador operations to Company-owned port facilities in Sept-Iles.
About Rio Tinto
Every idea, every innovation, every little thing the world calls 'progress' begins with a first step, and someone willing to take it: explorers, inventors, entrepreneurs. Pioneers.
For nearly 150 years, Rio Tinto has been a company of pioneers - generations of people spanning the globe, all with the grit and vision to produce materials essential to human progress.
Our iron ore has shaped skylines from Shanghai to Sydney. Our aluminium - the world's first to be certified "responsible" - helps planes fly and makes cars lighter. Our copper helps wind turbines power cities and our boron helps feed the world and explore the universe. Our diamonds help us celebrate the best parts of life.
Every Voice Matters
We are committed to an inclusive environment where people feel comfortable to be themselves. We want our people to feel that all voices are heard, all cultures respected and that a variety of perspectives are not only welcome - they are essential to our success. We treat each other fairly and with dignity regardless of race, gender, nationality, ethnic origin, religion, age, sexual orientation or anything else that makes us different.
Application Deadline
Applications close on October 01, 2023.
At Rio Tinto, we particularly welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, women, the LGBTQIA2 community, mature workers, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds.
