As part of your role, you may expect to be involved in:
- Reporting to the Senior Project Manager for various projects as needed
- Understanding and interpreting the requirements and details of Contract Drawings and specifications
- Understanding the contractor's obligations and the client's responsibilities under the contracts
- Onsite review of work according to the required established frequency; examination of work to the detail required to ensure contract compliance
- Identification and action on any site, contractual and regulatory infractions (for safety, security, operational efficiency, customer convenience, etc.)
- Preparation of site visit reports
- Review of contractor's progress certificates and accuracy of quantities
- Proactively committing to creating a positive work environment
- Supporting and adhering to Health & Safety programs
- Collaborating with other disciplines at EnVision with respect to multidisciplinary projects
- Travel to sites within the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario, as needed
- Any other functions assigned as part of your employment
- Graduated from a Civil Engineering Technology/Technologist College Program
- 35 years of directly related experience in the inspection of large, multidisciplinary and/or heavy construction capital projects and subdivision and site plan projects
- P.Eng. or C.E.T. certification would be considered an asset
- Previous experience using AutoCAD, Civil 3D would be considered an asset
- General knowledge of construction inspection and management principles, practices and techniques, as well as knowledge of construction products, materials, and equipment
- Strong understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, and regulations for construction projects, as well as the safety policies and procedures applicable to the construction project
- Sound judgement, strong organizational, administrative, observational, and problem solving skills
- Proficient at interpreting Contract Documents, specifications, standards, and technical drawings
- Comfortable interacting with public agencies, clients, contractors, and coworkers
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, and to proactively respond to timesensitive issues
- A valid G license and access to a vehicle to travel to and from sites (mileage to sites compensated), including valid and appropriate vehicle insurance
