  • This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to support VCC Salon and Spa daily operations. The incumbent is the first point of contact and is responsible for ensuring a positive and helpful environment for clients, staff and students. The Salon and Spa reception area is a hightraffic, open workspace where working conditions can be demanding. This position requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
    Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • 1. Offers exceptional clients services when greeting clients upon arrival and over the telephone, confirming appointments and answering questions about services;
  • 2. Consistently promotes and provides a highstandard of service by keeping a friendly, positive attitude with every client and team member in the department;
  • 3. Offers the highest level of personalized service with the ability to remain calm and gracious while addressing stressful situations;
  • 4. Books and confirms appointment services both in person and on the telephone efficiently;
  • 5. Oversees daily salon and spa schedules and appointments;
  • 6. Performs transactions including payment processing, cash handling and daily sales reconciliation and reporting;
  • 7. Informs clients about services and product specials;
  • 8. Assists in retail sales and provides information on products offered at VCC Salon and Spa;
  • 9. Clearly conveys a complete understanding of pricing and descriptions for available services and product lines;
  • 10. Answers a multiline telephone promptly and professionally, offering consistent professional, engaging and friendly support;
  • 11. Maintains merchandise displays with detailing and fronting products for proper selling position;
  • 12. Maintains proper signage on all displays;
  • 13. Ensures reception and waiting area is safe and free of obstructions and hazards;
  • 14. Handles client concerns as they arise, documenting and following through to their full resolution, referring complex issues to manager;
  • 15. Performs cash handling and related business operations duties;
  • 16. Assist with quarterly inventory;
  • 17. Performs a variety of tasks related to assisting salon operations, including stocking shelves, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area;
  • 18. Assists in department events and functions;
  • 19. Performs other related duties as required.
    Qualifications
Education and Experience- Grade 12 including up to 1 year industry related customer service and retail experience;

  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel;
  • Experience with customer booking Software (such as Milano);
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS);
  • An equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.
Skills and Abilities- Knowledgeable about all aspects of Salon and Spa operations and programs;

  • Understanding and knowledge on professional product lines;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty and outside clients;
  • Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrates ability to prioritize in a fastpaced work environment;
  • Ability to problem solve;
  • Must be selfdirected, motivated, and demonstrate exceptional customer service;
  • Must be able to show confidence and initiative in job performance;
  • Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail

Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
