Responsibilities:


The Animal Care Technician will be responsible for performing cleaning duties associated with ACVS-managed animal facilities, in accordance with all standard operating procedures and using ergonomically sound practices.

The role will assist with maintaining inventories and associated record keeping for cleaning, bedding and feed supplies; performing preventative maintenance of facility equipment and autoclaves; and liaising with facility leaders with respect to equipment maintenance and monitoring.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • High School Diploma
  • Experience:
  • 1 year of experience in mechanical preventative maintenance of large-scale equipment
  • 1 year of experience working with animals in a professional setting
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to consistently utilize ergonomically sound processes in accordance with guidelines
  • Ability to foster collaboration and respect among team members
  • Communication skills to clearly express ideas, adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience, and complete detailed records and reports
  • Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with genuine customer service orientation
  • Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
  • Ability to follow formal business practices and maintain electronic and physical records with high attention to detail
  • Ability to employ a systematic and efficient approach to work
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to interact professionally with students, staff, faculty, and other members of the University community
  • Ability to ensure a safe environment by identifying, resolving and reporting safety hazards
