Here's what you'll be doing....


This 15-week paid internship is an excellent introduction to scholarly publishing and working with academic nonfiction books (trade, and textbook) and journals.


  • For this position, we currently have the option of working remotely or in a hybrid model. However, this position may initially require some inoffice time mixed with work from home during the onboarding phase.

Key Responsibilities include:
Perform a variety of tasks to support the regular work of associate managing editors and editorial, design, and production coordinators in the Publishing division, including:

  • Checking page proofs
  • Preparing manuscripts for typesetting
  • Checking ebooks
  • Requesting copyright permissions
  • Reviewing printer quotes and printer proofs
  • Simple cover design
  • Reviewing copyedited files

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • Actively enrolled in, or have completed a postsecondary publishing or editing program

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 specifically Word and Excel and Adobe Professional, proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is preferred
  • Excellent communication and research skills, along with demonstrable expertise in copyediting and proofreading and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and/or other major style guides
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, an excellent problem solver, and selfmotivated
  • Commitment to continuous learning
