Here's what you'll be doing....

This 15-week paid internship is an excellent introduction to scholarly publishing and working with academic nonfiction books (trade, and textbook) and journals.

For this position, we currently have the option of working remotely or in a hybrid model. However, this position may initially require some inoffice time mixed with work from home during the onboarding phase.

Key Responsibilities include:
Perform a variety of tasks to support the regular work of associate managing editors and editorial, design, and production coordinators in the Publishing division, including:

Checking page proofs
Preparing manuscripts for typesetting
Checking ebooks
Requesting copyright permissions
Reviewing printer quotes and printer proofs
Simple cover design
Reviewing copyedited files

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

Actively enrolled in, or have completed a postsecondary publishing or editing program

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 specifically Word and Excel and Adobe Professional, proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is preferred
Excellent communication and research skills, along with demonstrable expertise in copyediting and proofreading and familiarity with the Chicago Manual of Style and/or other major style guides
Detail oriented, highly organized, an excellent problem solver, and selfmotivated
Commitment to continuous learning
