Job Summary
Contribute your program administration expertise to the Invasive Plant Management Program

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure plans transportation networks, provides transportation services and infrastructure, develops and implements transportation policies.

The Ministry's priorities include improving vital rural and urban infrastructure, investing in public transit, cycling infrastructure and other green modes of transportation, reducing transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening the economy through the movement of people and goods.

The Environmental Roadside Coordinator is part of a team primarily responsible for the delivery of the Ministry's province-wide invasive plant management program.

This position requires contract administration, First Nations and public consultation and education, coordination with non-profit organizations and local governments, and some direct management of invasive plants.

The Environmental Roadside Coordinator provides expert professional advisory services and program administration regarding vegetation management and related policies and procedures, for the Invasive Plant Management Program.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or higher in an environmentally focussed program (e.g., Biology, Environmental Studies/ Management, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Archaeology), and two (2) years of
related experience; OR,
Diploma in one of the abovementioned disciplines and three (3) years of
related experience; OR,
An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.

Related experience includes, but is not limited to:

Experience in monitoring vegetation communities with advanced plant taxonomy skills.
Experience reviewing and creating reclamation/revegetation plans.
Experience with and knowledge of erosion and sediment control measures.
Experience in negotiating and mediating solutions with stakeholders in natural resource management.
Experience delivering public consultation processes dealing with natural resource management.
Experience working with Indigenous Peoples and/or Governments.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

Those who meet all of the related experience requirements listed above.
Experience in the planning, design, construction, and operational phases of linear (e.g., highway) development projects.
Experience in operational invasive plant management including chemical treatments, mobile data collection, and creation and delivery of technical reports and presentations to various audiences.
Experience successfully working with diverse groups to resolve natural resource management challenges.
Experience in program administration including allocating resources, managing/supervising staff and administering budgets.
Experience working with Indigenous Peoples.

This position can be based in any Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure office.
