    Dimensional Strategies Inc. (DSI) is currently looking to expand its rapidly growing Data Analytics team. We Specialize in the development of solutions based on the Microsoft Data Platform. DSI is looking to add a number of select senior resources to the team.

    This is a full time / permanent role.

    About the role:

    • Heavy client facing focus, first point of contact with clients, pre-sales in a lot ways, but definitely a development role as well.
    • Supports business analysts and developers on project teams as they document their data requirements and establish thorough specifications
    • Conducts facilitation sessions to gather requirements
    • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and architect a business-centric technical architecture
    • Builds logical models
    • Works with database administrators to build the physical model and overall data architecture
    • Reviews and reports on project metrics to benchmark effectiveness
    • Works closely with database administrators and developers to ensure that business models are accurately implemented in application systems
    • Provides education on the naming and modeling standards; assists with modeling specific constructs
    • Reviews project models to ensure adherence to standards
    • Ensures data quality alignment
    • Works on and across multiple projects to ensure consistency in naming conventions and promotes the sharing and reuse of data across applications and business areas
    • Ensures that data analysis goals are met

    The following knowledge or skills are considered as necessary for this role:

    • Bachelors in Computer Science with 6+ years of related experience
    • 3-5 years of Data Management Experience
    • Understands database architectures, and data warehousing concepts
    • Ability to analyze data, and familiarity with data modeling, analysis and visualization tools (Excel, MS Power BI, Power Pivot/DAX, Power Query/M)
    • Business Intelligence Experience, specifically MS Power BI
    • Technical accomplishments in SQL, ETL, and data blending tools
    • Problem Solving Skills
    • Tools (SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure Data Platform (SQL DB, Blob, Data Factory, Automation, etc.) an asset.
    • Understand the benefits of data warehousing, data architecture, data quality processes, data warehousing design and implementation, table structure, fact and dimension tables, logical and physical database design, data modeling, reporting process metadata, and ETL processes

    Required Skills

    • 5 - 7 years of PowerBI Experience
    • SSAS and the design of tabular models, cube design and optimization.
    • Data modeling, star and snowflake schema experience is a must years experience.
    • Understanding of PowerBI security practices, ie. data masking, row level security.
    • Solid understanding of DAX, 3-5 years experience minimum.
    • ETL/SSIS experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years IT experience
    • Utilize strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to share application expertise, communicate complex business problems, and facilitate discussion with stakeholders.
    • Work closely with various business functional areas to understand, define system requirements and make recommendations for business solutions.
    • Evaluate current system capabilities to identify changes that need to be made and determines the impact to the business.
    • Will be responsible for creation and maintenance of documentation pertaining to product features, work processes, etc. for given area of expertise.
