Navitas is seeking to employ a
Student Wellness Manager to join our North American team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.


The Student Wellness Manager works with the Associate Director (Students) on the College's strategic direction, implementation, and management of well-being promotion initiatives and high-risk student support services, contributing to the enhancement of student outcomes and enrichment of student experience for vulnerable populations.


The Student Wellness Manager addresses various topics of concern, including adjustment to living in a new country, mental health, sexual violence, addictions, substance use, financial troubles, housing, and more.

The primary objective of this role is to ensure that students receive the necessary assistance to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.


This position is an integral part of the college, assisting the college to effectively deliver its teaching, learning, and support service goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Program Development and Implementation
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify the specific wellness needs of international students and develop comprehensive prevention programs.
  • Research and stay uptodate on best practices and evidencebased strategies in student wellness to inform program development.
  • Create educational resources, workshops, and initiatives addressing topics such as mental health promotion, sexual violence prevention, substance abuse awareness, financial literacy, housing support, and other relevant areas.
  • Plan and implement regular wellness events, awareness campaigns, and outreach programs targeting the student population, thereby assisting with community development and engagement.
  • Implement the strategic enrolment management systems of the college with an emphasis on retention and success of atrisk students.
  • Ensure compliance of regulatory requirements in the compilation of data in preparation for reporting, analysis, and presentation
  • Individual Case Management Support:
  • Manage a caseload of atrisk students, which includes providing confidential and empathetic support to students facing personal challenges, including, and not limited to, mental health issues, addiction, financial difficulties, and housing insecurity.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the appropriate level of support needed by students.
  • Develop and implement personalized care plans for students in collaboration with relevant departments and service providers, considering culturally appropriate service providers.
  • Travel to locations to meet with students, families, and authorities, where and when appropriate.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, faculty, staff, and external resources to ensure seamless access to support services. Monitor and track student progress, provide followup support, and make referrals to appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Team Leadership and Supervision:
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and ongoing training to the college staff members to enhance their skills in student support and programming.
  • Conduct regular meetings and checkins with staff members who may be working with atrisk students to ensure alignment with goals, address challenges, and provide support. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Community Engagement and Partnerships:
  • Collaborate with college departments, student organizations, and external agencies to foster a culture of wellness on
- and off-campus.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with local community resources, mental health service providers, social service agencies, and other relevant organizations.
  • Engage in communities of practice focused on student wellness and case management.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work (preferred), Counselling, Nursing, or a health/wellness related
  • Designation as a Registered Social Worker, Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, or other relevant designation.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years' relevant work experience, preferably in an environment supporting newcomers, vulnerable populations, and/or higher education setting(s)
  • Understanding of academic expectations and the difficulties faced by international students undertaking postsecondary studies
  • Understanding of wellness and transitional challenges faced by newcomer populations
