    Job Summary

    The Faculty of Education is seeking qualified sessional instructors to teach the following three credit hour courses in the integrated B.Ed./B.A.

    program at our Opaskwayak (OEA) site in The Pas, Manitoba:

    38.192 Environmental and Resource Issues


    Schedule: 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Fridays, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Saturdays September 14, 15, October 12, 13, November 9, 10 and December 7, 8.


    PLEASE NOTE:
    These times and days may be negotiated to meet the instructor's schedule.

    Distance delivery may also be an option.This course in an introduction to the relationship between humans and the physical world upon which we live.

    Traditionally, this relationship has involved humans using different portion of the natural environment to benefit society. Often these uses are detrimental to the environment.

    During lectures and through directed readings and assignments students will learn the ways in which humans impact the natural environment and the issues surrounding the need to minimize negative impacts.

    Topics covered include energy flow, ecosystem structure, matter cycling, biodiversity, climate change, protected areas, and commons resource management.

    PLEASE NOTE:

    These times and days may be negotiated to meet the instructor's schedule.This course is intended for students who require the mathematical concepts and techniques which form the early years to middle years school curriculum.

    Topics include sets, bases, number systems, inequalities, absolute values, modular arithmetic, field axioms, functions, geometry, measurement, statistics and probability. This course is recommended for students planning to go into Elementary Education.
