Job Summary

Organizational Status

The research assistant will work closely with the principal investigator and research team members in completing the described tasks.

Work Performed


Assisting in VR-related searches and data collection as required by the principal investigator or research team members according to established protocols.


Will assist researchers in creating progress reports to the principal investigator/supervisor regarding VR program information such as statistical summaries, charts, tables, images, etc.

Will assist to ensure copyright compliance with use of materials as needed.


Will assist with the running of diagnostics on VR programs to identify where improvement might be needed (e.g., equipment or hardware needs, data collection, participant user experience, etc).

Assist with monitoring participants while engaged in VR experience.

Performs other related duties as assigned/or required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

The research assistant will be assisting in the creation of VR environments and programs that collect data.

In the event a program error is found and/or data becomes lost or corrupted, the research assistant will notify the supervisor or other appropriate team members immediately.

Because the collection and proper handling of data is vital to the lab's research, the research assistant's work may be periodically audited or reviewed.

Supervision Received


The research assistant's work will be a mix of independently completing assigned duties and assisting the principal investigator/other members of the research team.

Supervision Given

As this is a junior position, there is no supervision given.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

A University degree in a related field.

Experience working in a psychology laboratory preferred.

Understands research, information technology, and psychology terminology.

Possesses effective verbal and written communication skills.

Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, and the internet.

Proficiency with VR hardware and software (e.g. Unity)

Proficiency with eye movement data sets

Capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities.

Effective in prioritizing work to meet deadlines.

Work effectively independently and/or in a team.
