The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa is located in the heart of Ottawa and is the proud academic home of some 4,300 students,200 faculty members, over 100 staff members, and over 30,000 alumni.

Position purpose:
Reporting to the Manager, Business Operations, as part of the Telfer School of Management team, helps ensure communication quality by providing English to French translation services as well as French-language editing, proofreading and adaptation of diverse texts.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
Translates from French to English, and edits, proofreads and adapts a wide range of moderately to highly complex documents, ensuring document quality.
Manages assigned client files and projects, negotiates deadlines and maintains ongoing relations with many internal and external stakeholders. Effectively manages own workload and work procedures.
Monitors the quality of translations and other texts produced internally and externally, particularly with regard to language precision, style and content.
Plays a role in improving internal school operations and processes, recommending best practices.
What you will bring:
Bachelor's in translation or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Certification by a professional association (an asset).
Three years' recent experience in a position in which at least 70% of the work involved actual translation in a translation service or a structured environment with language professionals.
Strong command of written French, with solid understanding of English. Flawless work
Ability to provide in-depth advice on language to a diverse clientele, to ensure high-quality communication and standardized usage.
Considerable versatility, including the proven ability to translate, edit and adapt promotional and journalistic texts as readily as complex administrative, technical or scholarly documents.
Proven ability to take on a heavy workload, adjust priorities and quickly renegotiate deadlines in a high-pressure work environment characterized by many emergencies and frequent interruptions.
Excellent customer service skills with proven ability to collaborate and negotiate with clients and, occasionally, external service providers.
Working knowledge of print and electronic reference tools used in the profession, including translation memories.
Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully in English and French, both orally and in writing.
