Job Summary:
***The Department of Pediatric Oncology-Hematology-BMT at CancerCare Manitoba and the Department of
years term position of
Pediatric Oncologist-Hematologist. The start date is negotiable but is expected to be no
later than July 17, 2023. The position will be clinically focused and involve caring for infants, children, and
independently in the inpatient unit at the Winnipeg Children's Hospital and the outpatient clinic at CancerCare
Manitoba, while providing clinical service for the on-call Pediatric Oncology, Blood and Marrow Transplant, and
Consultation services. Provision of 24/7 on-call service, including some weekends (approximately 1 in 4 to 1 in 7
weekends, depending upon scheduling) is required and is shared among the group of Pediatric Hematologists
- Oncologists. While the ability to provide expert clinical service to patients with all malignancies and hematologic
nonmalignant hematology would be beneficial. The position will include a nil-salary appointment in the
Department of Pediatrics and Child-Health at the University of Manitoba for the purpose of providing clinical
supervision and teaching of medical students, pediatric residents, and subspeciality trainees.
The Department of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology, CancerCare Manitoba consists of seven faculty members
with active clinical and research programs in pediatric oncology, blood and marrow transplant, hematology,
hemostasis and thrombosis. It is the sole Pediatric Oncology-Hematology Program caring for patients in Manitoba
and select patients from Nunavut, Northwestern Ontario and Saskatchewan. Our program is an active contributor
to the Children's Oncology Group and other collaborative clinical group trials, has an active blood and marrow
transplant program, a Royal College accredited subspecialty training program, and is well supported by all
pediatric subspecialties.
Qualifications:
***Required:Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba in a category that
allows for independent practice as a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist
Certification (or eligibility) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and
Pediatric Hematology Oncology or equivalent (including successful completion of the Royal College
Subspecialist Examination Affiliate Program (SEAP) examination in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology) is
required. Past training and experience as a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist along with additional
subspecialty training in a field related to Pediatric Hematology-Oncology will be considered.

According to Step 1 of the CancerCare Manitoba Physicians Remuneration Agreement
