Your role


French Radio-Canada's national news team on Parliament Hill in Québec City is looking for a highly organized Executive Producer with a keen interest in politics.

In this role, you will lead staff in the planning, development and production of major programs or groups of programs or platforms of the Parliament Hill in Québec City.

You must effectively communicate the program or platform strategic objectives and oversee the development of the team and its performance.


To succeed in this role, you are expected to have strong, proven leadership abilities and a high level of competence as a producer.


The job requires the highest level of organization and an ability to originate and develop innovative program or production concepts as well as techniques and procedures consistent with an integrated content company.

You must also work strategically with internal and external partners.


Work must adhere to CBC/Radio-Canada journalistic and/or program policies, standards and practices, and you must lead your team and units to ensure that this occurs.


Key tasks:


  • You will be responsible for resource allocation with the program, series, location or platform, and will be accountable for budget and business outcomes.
  • You will ensure team development by providing mentorship and opportunities to personnel assigned to the production or unit, or as assigned by management, including program and production personnel and freelance contributors.
  • You will perform all or part of the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification.
  • You will schedule resources and plan special event coverage, such as political party conventions, prime ministerial trips and other special programming.
  • You will perform other production or administrative tasks associated with the smooth functioning of Radio-Canada's Parliament Hill bureau.

Education:


  • University degree or equivalent

Experience:


  • Seven (7) years' experience, of which five (5) must involve work in broadcasting or a closely related industry directly related to the area of assignment
  • Indepth knowledge of Canadian parliamentary procedure, federal institutions and the Press Gallery
  • Indepth knowledge of Quebec, national and international affairs
  • Experience in a political bureau
  • Familiarity with the workings of Parliament Hill
  • Ability to handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to be innovative, flexible and a selfstarter
  • Ability to work in a highpressure, tightdeadline environment where overtime is frequently required
  • Ability to solve problems independently and in group discussions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced oral, writing and reading proficiency in English, an asset
