Payroll and Admin Assistant
Assistant.

The anticipated start date is June 2024. This is a 52 week 80% part time position working 30
hours per week.

Previous experience with Payworks/Absence Tracker/Time Management, Google suite,
accounting programs, and Microsoft Office will be required.

This position will suit an individual who enjoys serving others, is highly organized with strong
time management skills, detail oriented, accurate and able to follow up, likes to plan ahead but

JOB TITLE:
Payroll and Admin Assistant -.8 EFT

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Payroll Coordinator; Human Resources Coordinator


JOB SUMMARY:
This position will perform or assist in performing payroll functions, including
but not limited to compiling, classifying records, verifying and maintaining data and payroll for
Linden Christian School (LCS). The position involves the maintenance of payroll records
including the preparation of various reports and statements as required.
Secondarily, this
position will support the Human Resources Department with administrative assistance.
Additional duties will include accounting department tasks including Accounts Payable, Credit
Card Processing/documentation and related tasks.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


(50%) Payroll - in collaboration with the Payroll Coordinator

  • Process semimonthly payroll for Linden Christian School;
***Review and enter details from time sheets and other records;
***Prepare payroll journal entries;
***Balance payroll submissions;
***Ensure timely preparation and completion of payroll;
***Ensure tax withholding and remittances are completed;
***Maintain payroll records, files, and reports;
***Set up new employees and process employee changes;
***Process hiring and termination related documentation;
***Respond to staff inquiries; updating and adjusting information as required;
***Support administration of employee benefits and group retirement plans;
***Assist with the issuance of government reporting including T4, T4A, ROE's, etc.;
***Support the monitoring and recording of time off with Absence Tracker and Time

  • Management, including followup with staff for missing or incomplete submissions.

(25%) Accounting Support

  • Assist and/or prepare Accounts Payable invoices for payment;
  • Prepare credit card account reconciliations for posting;
  • Respond to general inquiries from staff at Business Admin reception;
  • Assist with year end preparations and document storage annual sorting;
  • Other finance duties as assigned.

(25%) Human Resources Administrative Support

  • Assist with the maintenance of Personnel files;
  • Prepare interview documentation packages;
  • Set up and prepare documentation for new employees;
  • Assist with staff HR events and staff orientation;
  • Assist with annual preparation of employment contracts;
  • Provide clerical support such as filing, documentation support, preparation of employee
- information packages, Safety and Health documentation, etc.;
  • Update annual Full Time Equivalent and Years of Service
  • Other Human Resources duties as assigned.

EDUCATION (preferred):

Payroll and accounting education and training;- Two or more years of related experience;

  • Commitment to continuous growth and learning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Able to work independently and as part of a team;- Strong attention to detail;

  • Able to identify and correct errors and omissions;
  • Strong mathematical skills;
  • High degree of accuracy;
  • Timemanagement strengths;
  • Knowledge of labour legislation and employment standards.
