    Opportunity

    MacEwan University is seeking a Senior Cloud Systems Analyst for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Cloud Services department.

    This role will be a DevOps specialist who will steward the adoption of Cloud infrastructure and technologies. The position will be responsible for developing, configuring, tuning & updating cloud infrastructure to support any of MacEwan's applications running in public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure & Google Cloud. Supported applications will be configured according to established MacEwan's standards, to facilitate future troubleshooting, upgrading and expansion. The role will be a Subject Matter Expert, advising and implementing improvements to our standards. They will be a Cloud and DevOps mentor in ITS in-cloud usage & skills.

    Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing leadership and direction to business analysts and technical staff to ensure successful identification of business needs and solutions approach in a cloud environment.
  • Maintaining and improving MacEwan's cloud infrastructure following industry best practices for resiliency and cyber security.
  • Implementing cloud solutions that meet the needs of the university's strategic plans and corporate directives.
  • Enabling and facilitating change in the corporate culture by capturing and communicating what is necessary to evolve to a desired state.
  • Developing guidelines to improve MacEwan's usage of DevOps tools and platforms such as: Terraform, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes.
  • Collaborating with MacEwan's Enterprise Cloud Analysts to improve automation in our Microsoft and Google productivity suites.
  • Collaborating with MacEwan's Operations and Infrastructure teams to adopt DevOps and Infrastructure as Code skills as MacEwan migrates applications to the Cloud.

  • The ability to persuade and influence people as they lead projects and take part in committees.

    • Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Computing Science and/or technical certification in Cloud technologies or equivalent.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure Knowledge of DevOps principles and strong foundation in secure Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Experience leading IT projects and designing resilient, secure solutions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
