Description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Cash Application Manager to join our team out of our Vaughan office As the Cash Application Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless and efficient handling of payment transactions within our organization.

Your team will be responsible for processing various payment formats, ensuring accuracy, and timely integration into our end billing and ERP systems.

This critical function directly supports our Operations, Finance, and Customer Service departments.


Key Responsibilities:


Stakeholder Relationships

  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with key internal stakeholders. Collaborate closely to ensure smooth payment processes and alignment with organizational goals.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive training materials and process documentation related to cash receipt procedures and internal controls. This supports compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) regulations.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Lead and mentor a direct team, fostering a continuous improvement mindset. Empower team members to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Cash Application Optimization

  • Strategically reduce unapplied or unknown cash, ensuring accurate and uptodate customer account views.

Third-Party Management

  • Oversee thirdparty service providers, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Cash Export Management

  • Manage the daily export of all cash received via various channels (Lockbox, ACH/EFT, Wire, Remote Deposit, and Credit Card) across multiple entities and ERP systems. Ensure data integrity and compliance with company guidelines.

Task Prioritization and Timely Completion

  • Prioritize and manage posting tasks, ensuring timely completion of assignments and meeting deadlines.

Quality Assurance:


  • Conduct thorough quality checks on cash posting, maintaining high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Data Analysis and Reporting:


  • Support data analysis efforts by organizing and formatting data for further analysis and presentation.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):


  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and monthend reports to evaluate performance and drive informed decisionmaking.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:


  • 35 years of experience in a fastpaced cash department, either as a supervisor or manager
  • Postsecondary education or equivalent experience is preferred
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with cash management tools
  • Sound understanding of general accounting principles, including credit and debits
  • Previous experience in change management and the ability to influence stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management
  • A high degree of attention to detail, especially when reviewing and resolving credit and debit bank reconciliation issues
  • Ability to successfully prioritize tasks and meet established deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate professionally with all levels of the organization
  • Experience in the waste industry is preferred
