Are you an experienced leader with strong project management skills? Are you interested in planning, leading and managing the design, development, and implementation of complex data and information management and emergency hazard and risk assessment projects to support the delivery and implementation of provincial emergency management strategies and initiatives? If so, then join this role with Emergency Management Ontario where you will provide strategic project management direction on the development of financial, digital, policy and program requirements related to strategic project initiatives.

What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Provide project management and team leadership to data specialists, and policy and program analysts
Lead, manage, and coordinate multiple strategic projects, including planning, developing and managing projects from inception to completion, providing research, digital, policy, program and financial leadership advice

  • Lead and coordinate engagement strategies related to emergency hazards and risks and vulnerable populations across the OPS, with other jurisdictions, external organizations and Indigenous partners.
  • Develop business improvement recommendations for Branch and Division senior management to enhance existing processes, systems, and controls
  • Prepare/develop business cases and briefing/presentation materials for senior management to support project initiatives
  • Design implementation strategies to effect change across the ministry with respect to information and data management and strategic planning activities
  • Lead ministry, multiministry stakeholder teams in the strategic planning, analysis and development of digital, policy and program options and/or recommendations that enable decisionmaking on emergency management strategies
  • Support the resolution of issues which have critical impact on the success of ministry initiatives and supports the ministry maximizing adherence to business best practices for business processes led by the branch.

How do I qualify?:


Business Knowledge:


  • You have knowledge of the broad range of political, social, economic and Indigenous issues and trends impacting emergency management in the province
  • You have knowledge of relevant legislation, provincial/ministry strategic directions pertaining to emergency management related critical issues, to provide information and advice to senior management and stakeholders
  • You have knowledge of change management and issues management methods and processes to manage projects to completion

Project Management Skills:


  • You are able to support the branch's project initiatives by leading and overseeing complex concurrent projects
  • You have strong project planning and business management skills and techniques to design and deliver an effective project management framework and appropriate implementation strategies
  • You can manage multiple projects to strict deadlines, and are able to lead divisional executives and senior management through decisions related to project planning and management
  • You can build customerfocused project teams that cross organizational boundaries, and can coordinate, schedule and prioritize the work of project team members

Communication and Stakeholder Management Skills:


  • You can maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
  • You can enable consultation and engagement with key stakeholders, partners and interest groups
You have excellent written communication skills to lead the development of briefing materials, presentations, and correspondence

  • You are able to provide expert advisory services, and effectively influence change and decision making
  • You have effective presentation, influencing and negotiation and consensusbuilding skills to present plans, solicit input, and achieve approval for complex project priorities
  • You are able to demonstrate political acuity to recognize and respond to issues which may impact the Minister, Deputy Ministry and Assistant Deputy Minister
  • You have effective collaboration and influencing skills, to ensure alignment with clients for successful delivery of projects
  • You are able to develop and maintain effective working re
