Are you a well-rounded professional, pursuing a challenging career with the chance to grow and make a real difference? Mountain Lea Lodge is currently hiring a Cook and 2 Food Service Workers who have a passion for working with seniors.

The

Cook is responsible for the meal preparation as per menu, and special requirements, using standardized recipes, portions and procedures.

  • Assists in standardization of recipes, portion control and food requirements to ensure high quality food and safe food products as well as prevent food waste.
  • Plates all food in an attractive, appetizing manner.
  • Knowledgeable in operating and sanitizing all equipment used on the job.
  • Participates in cook's menu meetings as required.
  • Responsible for the operation and safety in dietary department in the absence of the Directors and Food Service Manager and reports back to them upon their return.
  • Responsible for preparing food orders.
  • Receives freight deliveries checking invoices and quality of items in deliveries. In case of finding damaged product, will report it to the Director of Food Service or Food Service Manager.
  • Ensures all cooking areas used during the shift by the cook are cleaned and sanitized at the end of the shift. Replenishes all cooking supplies required for cook's preparation areas.
  • Trains new employees (i.e. cooking position). Training includes operation and cleaning of equipment.

Core Requirements:


  • Valid Food Handlers Course
  • Experience in health care food service preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff, clients and management
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction and work effectively in a team environment following established policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment, initiative and problemsolving skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform the duties of the position, including heavy lifting; to withstand the demands of walking and standing during shifts; to work in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations; and to work flexible hours; traveling/working at other sites as required

Food Service Worker is responsible for the meal preparation, service and delivery and for the sanitation and cleaning related to the provision of safe, nutritious meal service to the clients served by the facility.


Core Requirements:


  • High School Diploma
  • Successful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five years
  • You posses the ability to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience in health care food service
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff, clients and management
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction and work effectively in a team environment following established policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong communication
