Reporting to the Director of Finance, the
Accounting Manager is accountable for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all activities associated with the accounting function.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for the preparation of divisional financial results for multi-subsidiary and multiple business unit operations, as well as assisting with monthly financial forecasts and annual financial budgets.

This position will provide assistance to finance staff as well as business operational staff while supporting the Director and Senior Management.

Key Responsibilities_**- Financial Reporting_

  • Preparation and review of divisional monthly financial statements ensuring accuracy of expenses and revenue recognition for multiple business units for SJC Content/Media/SCL Group.
  • Provide Sales Reports including Sales Forecast to the sales team and Management.
  • Evaluation of financial performance by analyzing monthly financial statements, accruing for revenues and costs, intersecting with business operations team members as required.
  • Reconciles reports including revenues, accounts receivable, unbilled and deferred revenue.
  • Maintains and reviews balance sheet reconciliations, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare bonus and commission calculations based on sales rep's agreements.
  • Performs adhoc analysis, reports, and projects as required.
  • WIP calculation and management (if applicable).
  • Work with Sales reps and AR analysts to provide expected billings to management on weekly basis.
  • Forecasting & Budgeting_
  • Ensures consolidated excel forecast and monthly reporting files are maintained and updated, imports monthly forecasts into NetSuite for SJC Content/ Media/SCL Group/Assembly Digital.
  • Assists director with the preparation of monthly financial forecasts & annual budget across multiple business units.
  • Prepare and update expected billings on a weekly basis.
  • Compliance_
  • Review sales accruals and deferred revenue recognition.
  • Prepare and analyze margins for projects on a monthly basis.
  • Compliance with government agencies such as CRA/ statistics Canada.
  • Annual audit coordination and support.
  • Review and approve Pos for AP.
  • Review HST calculations and guide accounting analysts on tax issues.
  • Additional Responsibilities_
  • Work with the production team to ensure all costs are captured and revenues are recognized in the appropriate units.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decisionmaking.
  • Risks and reserves updates to Director.
  • Oversight and management of divisional financial results.
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders across functional disciplines.
  • Development and enforcement of business & financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Coach and mentor staff to ensure the team delivers great quality work in a timely manner.
  • Fixed asset management.
  • Integration and optimization of financial processes & procedures.
  • Work with AMEX team and implement a website for credit card transactions (if applicable).
  • ERP financial system implementation (if applicable).

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA designation
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting and/or financial analysis
  • Excellent business judgment, analytical and decisionmaking skills
  • Strong demonstrated use of Excel, Netsuite ERP software experience preferred
  • Ability to work with other as a team and independently
