Ktunaxa Kinbasket Child & Family Services (KKCFSS) is a non-profit Delegated Aboriginal Agency governed by the Ktunaxa Nation Council Social Sector Board.

KKCFSS is available to Ktunaxa citizens, First Nations, Métis and Inuit living on and off-reserve in the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory.

The Opportunity:
The Maintenance Worker position performs a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, etc.) for a number of buildings and office sites.

This encompasses a wide variety of maintenance activities; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring that tools, materials and vehicles are maintained in good working order.

Responsible for ensuring that any potential hazards are taken care of and that acts of vandalism are handled properly. Responsible for grounds maintenance.


In the Role as Maintenance Worker, You Will:

  • Troubleshoot maintenance problems. Install system component parts (e.g. lighting, heating and ventilating systems, alarms, plumbing, security, electrical panels etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
  • Perform preventive building maintenance duties; complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition and ensuring proper storage.
  • Clean society buildings, grounds areas and vehicles (including garbage removal) on a regular basis to ensure a clean and sanitary working environment, as well as preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure.
  • May be requested to assist with maintenance duties (including pickups & delivery) with ʔaq̓am and KNC.
  • Required to mentor youth gaining experience in the workforce.
  • Travel within the Ktunaxa Nation is required.

What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • Grade Twelve Graduation Diploma.
  • At least five years' experience in building maintenance and janitorial services.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and operating procedures.
  • Experience and versatility with a wide range of tools, equipment, troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • The proven ability to deliver responsive, cost effective repair solutions.
  • The ability to anticipate needs/problems and to plan/prioritize tasks in the short and long term.
  • An understanding of and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and public.
  • Experience in mentoring or coaching youth would be considered an asset.
  • Current First Aid Certification.
  • Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • WHMIS.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable vehicle suitable for maintenance tasks.
  • Interpersonal skills to maintain relationships based on respect and professionalism.
  • Flexibility.
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Initiative, confidence and selfmotivation.
  • Proof of COVID19 vaccination.
