OVERVIEW
A structured Security Supervisor role is critical to the success of Parq Vancouver. The primary responsibility of the Security Supervisor is to ensure all regulations, policies, laws and procedures are enforced.

Apart from the leadership role, the Security Supervisor also carries out customer service requests and other security duties as required.

The Security Supervisor oversees a team of security officers to create a safe, secure environment for guests and associates. In addition, the Security Supervisor is expected to build upon a culture of associate engagement and set the example for all associates at Parq Vancouver

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide supervision and guidance to security personnel to ensure security coverage is appropriate for the security and safety of all guests and associates based on internal events, surrounding external factors and other influences affecting the property
  • Provide Superior Customer Service in both internal and external interactions
  • Assign duties and deploy security personnel appropriately for each shift.
  • Complete understanding of all events, promotions and marketing initiatives in addition to providing officer briefings to relay these details
  • Responsible for the exterior/perimeter security of the property including parking and service areas
  • Ensure all assets are properly secured, escorted and monitored per policy
  • Responsible for Access Control to secure areas of the property for both guest and associates
  • Sound knowledge of the physical layout of the property for exiting, emergency and event locations
  • Investigate accidents, reports of crime, vandalism and security issues from associates or guests
  • Follow up on guest and associate complaints including proper reporting and escalation
  • Understanding of gaming operation and compliance with BCLC security policies and procedures
  • Understanding of Parq Vancouver Security Operations as they pertain to Hotels, Event Spaces, Service Areas, Food and Beverage Outlets
  • Able to use and work with security systems/technology used on property plus ability to trouble shoot real time problems and provide solutions during interruptions and system failures
  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety Standards set forth by Parq Vancouver and Work Safe
  • Comply with safety procedures including use of required safety equipment and ability identify unsafe practices or conditions
  • Adhere to all applicable Federal, Provincial, Municipal and Internal laws, regulations and policies

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years in a casino security environment or equivalent security experience
  • High school education or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Education in related field of study including law enforcement would be a definite asset
  • Training in use of force and tactical communication
  • Strong leadership qualities with the ability for conflict resolution, effective decision making, and directing staff diplomatically
  • Demonstrated experience intervening and deescalating conflict situations with nonviolent tactics
  • Ability to remain professional and perform duties under stressful conditions
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous experience in report writing and incident investigation skills
  • General knowledge of the Standard Operating Procedures as they pertain to Casino Security
CERTIFICATES, TRAINING, AND/OR LICENSES REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to obtain a valid GPEB license
  • Ability to complete all BCLC required Training and Licensing
  • Serving it Right Certification
  • Possess a valid Security License
  • Current certification in Occupational First Aid Level 1

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift, handle, and transport materials that are over 25lbs
  • Required to stand and walk during assigned shift (ability to run as required during an emergency or security situation)
  • May work outdoors during all hours and in all weather
