Assistant or Associate Professor in Animal Husbandry

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FMV) of the _Université de Montréal_ is seeking a regular professor at
rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in
Animal Husbandry for the new delocalized campus in Rimouski
located at the _Université du Québec à Rimouski_ (UQAR). It is a full-time and a tenure-track position.

According to the QS World University Rankings, the FMV ranks among the top 30 veterinary education
institutions worldwide. The FMV offers a structured mentoring program facilitating the integration of new

academic life, visit our website. The position is located in Rimouski, a city of 50,000 inhabitants, the regional
capital of Bas-Saint-Laurent, known for its dynamism and quality of life. It brings together numerous
educational institutions and has a high concentration of researchers in basic and applied sciences. Multiple
collaborations and services exist thanks, in particular, to the privileged partnership with the Université du
Québec à Rimouski and the Maurice Lamontagne Institute. The MRC of Rimouski-Neigette has a very active
agricultural zone, including a significant representation of animal productions (dairy and milk cattle, beef
cattle, sheep, pigs, broiler chickens, and others), making it a fertile ground for research and teaching in this
very important sector.

The Department of Veterinary Biomedicine, comprising 17 tenure-track professors and 5 adjunct professors,
provides a dynamic environment for research and education. Our areas of expertise cover fundamental and
experimental pharmacology, toxicology, molecular and integrative physiology, genomics, proteomics, animal
modeling, livestock management, reproductive biology, including close ties to translational and clinical
research. Livestock management research faces several challenges, both scientific and practical, that can
affect animal welfare, environmental sustainability, resilience to diseases and climate change, technological
with expertise in
Animal Husbandry, particularly in the areas of animal nutrition, animal husbandry, ecology,
ethology, and animal health.

By joining our team as a professor, you will contribute to our mission to ensure leadership in education and
research in the field of
Animal Husbandry through an interdisciplinary and innovative approach to address
challenges and promote sustainable, ethical, and productive practices while ensuring food security and the
health of animals, humans, and the environment. This position aligns with the core faculty mission to educate
the next generation of veterinarians and scientists proficient in new technologies of fundamental and applied
research, and with an understanding of current challenges in animal and human health within the "One
Health" vision.

The selected individual will be responsible for leading an innovative and independent research program,
securing external research grants, utilizing current approaches including cutting-edge technology, and
collaborating with department members, FMV colleagues, and those from UQAR. A research program
aligned with the department's, FMV's, and UQAR's activities would be advantageous. To facilitate the

As a professor, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the excellence of the Faculty of

Veterinary Medicine
through your teaching and your research activities. You will also ensure the visibility of your discipline in
addition to actively participate in the operation of a renowned institution


As such, you will:
>
Develop an autonomous and independent research program aligned with the posting, the activities of

the Department of Veterinary Biomedicine, the FMV, the Rimouski region or our partner UQAR;
>
Participate in teaching animal husbandry and sustainable development of animal production to students

enrolled in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program;
>
Participate in the teaching and training of graduate students (2nd and 3rd cycles and postdoctoral levels);
>
Participate in outreach activities of your discipline (publications, conferences, others);
>
Contribute to the functioning of the FMV.


To succeed in this role, you'll need:
>
Ph.
D. degree in a relevant area;
>
Doctor in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent would be considered an asset;
>
Must possesses significant experience and productivity at the postdoctoral level in a relevant discipline

to the position;
>
Strong track-record of publications demonstrating scientific and academic excellence;
>
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment, critical to establishing collaborative research within the

Department of Veterinary Biomedicine, the FMV, or the UQAR;

An adequate knowledge of th
