    Your job application must clearly demonstrate that you meet all the pre-screening requirements in order to move on to the next step. Please explain how you meet the essential criteria of education and experience. Do not forget to specify the period during which you have held each function (month and year), and where you acquired the qualification. The answers to the pre-screening questions will be the main source of information that the assessment board members will be using to determine whether you have the essential qualifications for education and experience.     Duties

    Student Day Use Area Attendant:
    Provides traffic management, visitor services, revenue collection, and site cleaning and maintenance at key day use areas in Banff National Park. This includes but is not limited to: flagging and other traffic management, providing information to the visiting public, litter picking and group cleaning, and regulation and safety compliance.

    Student Entry Gate and Visitor Centre Attendant:
    Revenue collection at various visitor service locations including visitor centres, entry gates, day use areas and retail locations. This includes providing comprehensive information to the visiting public on a wide variety of topics including but not limited to: campgrounds, trails, points of interest, safety, wilderness travel, park regulations and policies, selling a variety of passes, and properly accounting for revenue received.

    Student Campground Attendant:
    Provides visitor services to enhance visitor experience, and cleans and maintains Parks Canada Agency area buildings, facilities and grounds. This includes but is not limited to the daily cleaning of; campground washroom facilities, day use area washrooms/pit privies, campsite cleaning/maintenance, grounds cleaning and litter picking, emptying of trash and recycling receptacles. May also include greeting & orienting visitors, revenue collection, providing information and basic administrative tasks.

    Student Visitor Information Program Survey Attendant:
    Conducts surveys with visitors at various locations in Banff National Park as part of Parks Canadas official national visitor feedback survey program, which provides information on Parks Canadas visitor base. This includes but is not limited to: interviewing visitors, following surveying procedures, maintaining detailed and accurate records, and ensuring completed surveys are prepared and mailed for processing.

    Intent of the process

    The results may be used in the future to fill other temporary student vacancies that may arise in the Banff Field Unit, in various locations, with full or part-time hours for various tenures, depending on status of the selected candidate.

    Open to students currently enrolled in secondary or post-secondary school in an accredited institution and/or those participating in adult education and retraining programs at the secondary level, operated under the authority of an accredited academic institution.

    EXPERIENCE IN:
    Providing front line customer service;
    Cleaning and maintenance practices.

    Asset Qualifications:
    The following qualifications may be applied and/or assessed because they are beneficial in carrying out the duties of the position. They may be used in screening, assessment or determining right fit for this selection process, so please describe how you meet any of the following criteria.

    Handling cash and operating point of sales
    Working in a team oriented environment
    Experience managing social media content (Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite)

    OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Willing and able to work shifts, weekends, holidays and overtime
    Willing and able to perform repetitive tasks such as: lifting heavy boxes, picking litter, and site maintenance
    Willing and able to work outdoors and be exposed to various weather conditions
    Make moderate physical effort to sit and stand for prolonged periods and/or clean facilities/grounds
    Be exposed to noxious odours from car fumes; to dust, cleaning products and wet conditions
    Possession and maintenance of a valid Alberta Class 5 drivers license or equivalent
    Willing and able to dust, wash walls and windows, and clean washrooms

    Conditions of employment

    Successful completion and maintenance of reliability security clearance including fingerprints
    Willing and able to wear a Parks Canada uniform and safety equipment
