Position Description:

Reporting to the Facilities Operations Manager, as the Cross Regional Environmental Service Supervisor, you will play a vital role in overseeing and coordinating environmental services across multiple Indwell Programs.

This position requires a dynamic individual with strong leadership skills and a background in environmental management and facility operations.

Hours of Work:
Full Time

  • 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9am5pm with some flexibility.

Location:
Based in Hamilton at Indwell's Resource Centre

  • 1430 Main St. E. while travelling to Indwell program locations across Hamilton, Mississauga, Simcoe, Woodstock, St. Thomas, London, Kitchener, plus others in the near future. Frequency of travel based on needs. Mileage paid when travelling outside of local city office.

What you will be doing:


  • Develop and implement strategic plans to improve cleanliness and environmental performance across all Indwell Programs
  • Collaborate with janitorial contractors to ensure the proper scope of work is completed and monitor their performance
  • Recruit, hire, and train resident cleaning staff, ensuring they are equipped to maintain cleanliness standards
  • Manage refuse removal schedules and contracts, coordinating with waste management vendors as needed
  • Assist in creating cleaning schedules and ensure all cleaning supplies are available and accessible for all Programs
  • Utilize YARDI experience to effectively manage environmental service operations
  • Analyze building water and electricity usage, identifying areas of waste and implementing measures to improve efficiency
  • Work closely with the Building Automation System (BAS) team to develop energysaving strategies for lighting, electrical use, and water consumption
  • Schedule and coordinate fire department inspections, maintaining accurate records of deficiencies and related work orders
  • Oversee fire alarm and fire system testing, ensuring compliance with yearly certification requirements
  • Assist in creating Fire Life Safety Plans and manuals for each facility, both new and existing construction
  • Coordinate emergency response plans (ERPs) and systems with the assistance of Program Managers
  • Coordinate internal and external communications regarding site environmental compliance, including site visits, reports, and regulatory notifications
  • Coordinate external environmental audits as required by permits, authorizing and reviewing reports as necessary
  • Develop, implement, and periodically review organizational environmental health and safety plans, permits, and standard operating procedures (SOP)
  • Provide technical support for environmental remediation projects and analyze scientific data to ensure quality control
  • Monitor progress of environmental improvement programs and inspect facilities and programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
  • Lead a diverse team of individuals, demonstrating strong communication, organizational, and management skills
  • Ensure adherence to Indwell Values as outlined in the company handbook

What you will bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science preferred, or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of specific environmental experience or similar experience required, preferably with a PMP certification
  • Experience in the environmental service field preferred, with at least 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in YARDI software preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, tenants, management, and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and delegate effectively, with project management experience preferred
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance requirements
  • Commitment to Indwell Values and fostering a positive work environment
  • Must have own vehicle and a valid "G" class driver's license
