Equipment Technology Technician - Edmonton, Canada - BFI-Constructors
Description
Position Scope:
- Position is based out of Edmonton but you must be able to travel to Fort McMurray, Calgary, Saskatoon and Vancouver.

Responsibilities:
- Perform Grade Control, Telematics and Collision Avoidance System Installations:
- Install grade control harnesses in a variety of construction and mining equipment types.
- Install and remove grade control cab kits. Perform grade control calibrations.
- Install telemetry devices in mining, construction and on road equipment.
- Install collision avoidance systems.
- Support grade control site operations and training needs.
- Deploy any future technology related IoT devices on mining and construction equipment.
- Troubleshoot and Repair of Equipment Technology:
- Diagnose and repair of grade control, telemetry and collision avoidance devices installed in equipment.
- Troubleshoot telemetry and grade control connectivity and installation issues.
- Synchronize telemetry devices.
- Perform equipment repair and maintenance work
- Perform general equipment repairs in the field or shop as required.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose general construction equipment failures.
Summary:
- Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
- Ability to conduct safe work practices and experience working alone
- Heavy equipment technician journeyman (Red Seal is an asset)
- Have a valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to understand hydraulic and electronic schematics
- Ability to travel on short notice to address critical equipment technology repairs
- Ability to work in the field in all environments
- Experience working in multiple mining site environments and managing proper training, permits and certification requirements
- Experience with Microsoft 365 is an asset
- Undergo and successfully pass the following testing:
- Breath Alcohol Test
- Urine Drug Test
- Fit for work Test
- Vision Test
- OSSA or OSSA (BSO) Certification
- CSTS Certification
- Heavy Equipment Technician or Agricultural Equipment Technician or Truck and Transport Mechanic or Automotive Service Technician or Automotive Service Technology
- Wildlife/Bear Awaresness Certificate
- WHMIS 2015 Certificate
- Copy of Valid Class 5 Driver's License
- Copy of recent Driver's Abstract
- VOID cheque/direct deposit form
