Job Summary:

The primary function of the Grocery Supervisor is to provide overall day-to-day operational functionality of the department in the absence of the Grocery Manager and Assistant Manager; to ensure adequate receiving, stocking and rotating of products; to meet objectives for product selections and customer service.

Responsibilities:

Coordinates the neat and orderly flow of stock from receiving and the back store room onto the shelves on the sales floor, pulling and rotating product according to expiry dates and changing labels; merchandise items appropriately
Oversees department staff supervision, scheduling, task delegation, stock movement, equipment function and departmental cleanliness as per departmental and store policies and procedures.
Makes observations and documents daytoday running of the department and confers with Department Manager and Assistant on a regular basis regarding the state of the department.
Offers prompt and courteous customer service, fields customer complaints, solves customer conflicts, and proactively determines customer needs.
Creates a positive environment amongst department employees, motivates staff to take responsibility and to make decisions based on experience.
Maintains consistent communication with Standards Coordinator on all matters as they relate to organic compliance (e.g. changes in supplier, new products, changes in cleaners, etc.)
All other responsibilities related to organic compliance that are recommended by the Standards Coordinator with the support of the General Manager and/or Store Manager

- _Perform any other job-related and/or managerial tasks at the discretion of the Grocery Manager or Store Manager_

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

High school diploma
1+ years retail, grocery, natural food industry and/or customer service experience required
1+ years supervisory experience preferred
Strong work ethic, shows initiative and the motivation to complete work assignments
Must be available evenings and weekends
