  • Job SummaryReporting to the Manager, Homestay, English Language Centre (ELC), the Program Assistant (Assistant) initiates and performs a variety of administrative tasks supporting the Homestay Program. The Assistant works closely with and receives guidance from the Homestay Coordinators. The Assistant must also work independently and possess an excellent understanding of the English Language Centre, the Division and the University policies and procedures.


Working with the Manager, Academic and ELC Curriculum Coordinators, the Assistant provides support to the ELC Academic unit by assisting with provisions of teaching/learning resources, managing the library database, inventory control, ordering books and materials.


The Assistant responds to a broad range of queries from staff, students, English language instructors, host families and many outside stakeholders.

    Experience:


This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 3 years' experience working within a comparable environment.


Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Knowledge of UVic policies, procedures and regulations regarding students;
  • Knowledge of UVic systems, including DCS' Student Information System (OASIS), Brightspace, FAST and Banner
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
