    What you'll do
  • Instructors will be responsible for delivering a weeklong millinery intensive for students enrolled in
    COST 203**, a second year costuming for stage and screen course where students participate in a series of tutorials with industry professionals to gain experience in a range of specialty skills.
  • Please note this posting is for a oneweek period during the Spring Term, teaching four, sixhour classes in one week.
  • This course is part of the
    Costuming for Stage and Screen Diploma.
Responsibilities include participation in University and Departmental activities.
What you'll bring

Required Education & Experience

  • Minimum Diploma. Bachelor of Arts or Master's degree preferred 10 years of Industry Experience.
  • Proven ability to teach to adult learners

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Master Men's Hatter
  • Master Couture Millner
  • Working knowledge of Western and Non-Western Costume history Working knowledge between period, couture, and theatrical millinery
  • Proficient in hat design, pattern making, and fabric selection.
  • Expert in sourcing materials for millinery
  • Depth of knowledge to pass on enthusiasm, information, and skills for millinery skills and techniques in a short period of time.
  • Master at using traditional millinery materials in conventional (including blocking, felting, and wiring) and unconventional costume and construction.
  • Working knowledge of Film and Theatre costume production organization and operations, and a solid understanding of the roles involved within a costume department.
  • Working knowledge in a range of other Costume Crafts and Theatrical Cutting and Construction is an asset.
  • Awareness of the lifecycle of millinery materials, with strategies for recycling or ecofriendly disposal
