The Information Security Consultant is responsible for conductingsecurity assurance activities for the Ministry. They contribute in a rangeof areas include conducting security risk assessment, audits, technicalvalidation, and conducting certification activities. They also providesecurity expertise and assist in security awareness campaigns and being aSME in information security.

The role is expected to provide these servicesin line with Ministry and government information security and riskmanagement policies and standards.

Key responsibilities:

Security Assurance is the focus of the role, and the InformationSecurity Consultant will conduct the following:Write security risk assessmentsReview reports from third partiesAssist and run risk workshopsConduct regular security assurance activities including tasks such asaccess reviews, configuration reviewsAudit the implementation of solutionsStrong written and verbal communications skills are required to be ableto effectively communicate with stakeholders throughout the Ministry.

TheInformation Security Consultant is expected to be able to communicatefindings and risk positions to a range of staff including project teams andmanagement.

The Information Security Consultant will have a core knowledge ininformation security and be willing to work on expanding this. They willparticipate in training to upskill, and regular knowledge sharing withinthe team.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in the role you will have:

Experience in cyber security consultancy, risk and assurance andinformation security managementGood understanding of the information and technical security issuesfaced by large enterprise organisations and the security industryStrong team player with demonstrable track record in performing riskand assurance projects such as Certification and Accreditation (C&A) ofsystems and servicesFantastic attention to detail, time management, stakeholder managementand multi-tasking capabilitiesProactive customer and business focussed approachUnderstanding of Te Ao Māori, Te Reo Māori me onā tikangaMō mātou/About usAt Te Tāhū o te Ture – the Ministry of Justice, we arecommitted to working together for a fair and safe Aotearoa.

The Security Assurance team is accountable for the Ministry'sICT and information security risk and assurance. We are part of the greaterResilience and Assurance Services (RAS) team.

RAS maintain and assureprotective security and privacy strategy, policy, guidelines and processesto ensure that protective security (including cyber security, physicalsecurity and personnel security) and privacy risk across Te Tāhū o teTure is understood and managed appropriately.

We facilitate the security assurance processes to ensure thatinformation security risks are identified and mitigated appropriatelythroughout the project lifecycle and operational processes.

We also assistin maintaining security policies and processes and provide user awarenesstraining on day-to-day activities to ensure everyone at the Ministry hasaccess to information that allows them to perform their jobs safely.
