Opportunity:


The Facilities & EHS Lead will be responsible for overseeing all building maintenance programs, associate amenities, sustainability improvements, workplace health and safety as well as ensuring regulatory compliance to all local, provincial and government regulations.

The incumbent will be responsible for managing the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.

This role requires you to work with the Management Team in driving a Safety Culture which engages associates, improves EHS performance and supports the overall strategy of the Global EHS organization.


What You'll Do:


  • Communicate and schedule service calls with contractors
  • Assist with obtaining quotes and tenders from vendors and suppliers with goal to reduce overall operating cost by 10% YOY
  • Manage maintenance responsibilities for the building and related facilities, furnishings and material handling equipment
  • Oversee building security system
  • Maintain current knowledge and assist with emergency and evacuation procedures
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance program for the building and equipment
  • Providing regulatory oversight of the operation and maintenance of pollution control equipment and monitoring devices
  • Understanding solid and hazardous waste laws and regulations applicable to the facility wastes, identifying hazardous and nonhazardous wastes, and ensuring the proper management and disposal of such wastes
  • Working with purchasing and manufacturing to evaluate opportunities for recycling and waste reduction, reducing energy consumption, conserving water and evaluate new raw materials or replacements for existing raw materials
  • Be oncall for possible afterhour site emergencies

Requirements:


  • Postsecondary education in a related field or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in facility & EHS operations at a manufacturing environment
  • Possess a valid 309A Electrician
  • Construction & Maintenance license for the Province of Ontario with proven experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience working with thirdparty service providers is a must
  • Working knowledge of either Ontario OHSA regulations or USA OSHA requirements (Federal and State)
