Human Resources Advisor - Edmonton, Canada - Spartan Controls
Description
***Role and Responsibilities:
- Coach and provide expertise and support to managers and employees on Human Resources policies and procedures, employment standards, and other related legislation
- Act as a partner to hiring managers throughout the recruitment and selection process, by providing guidance, conducting interviews, and leading the interview debrief
- Execute recruitment activities such as creating job postings, screening, and reference checks
- Lead the onboarding process with new and transferred Spartans
- Respond to employee enquiries in a timely manner
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees on performance management and career development
- Ensure all required paperwork surrounding HR activities is completed accurately and on a timely basis
- Prepare special reports and presentations, as required
- Input recruitment activity monthly for specific client groups
- Contribute to the development of new HR processes and continuous improvement of existing HR processes
- Conduct training and development presentations such as Team Effectiveness, DiSC review, and Spartan Mentor training sessions
- Lead HR projects and process improvements in various Human Resource areas, as required
- Provide support to managers on international travel (including coordinating US & International Visa Applications)
- Coordinate Spartan participation and attendance at Career Fair
- Lead the Spartan Summer Student/Cooperative Education Program
- Manage relocations and provide superior support to ensure the new or transferring Spartan is comfortable and taken care of throughout the process
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with a focus on Human Resources
- 35 years of experience in an HR Generalist role is required
- Previous experience with Success Factors HRIS is an asset
- Strong knowledge of relevant employment standards and human rights legislation
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Exhibit professionalism and confidentiality
- Motivated and efficient selfstarter with positive "can do" attitude
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
- Willingness and ability to travel, as visits to other Spartan offices across Western Canada is required
