Building Operations Technician - Ottawa, Canada - Carleton University

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Manager, Building Operations, this job is responsible for the installation, maintenance, programming, operation and optimization of the building automation system in order to maintain the indoor comfort levels for the building occupants with a strong focus on customer service.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of building operations and their maintenance
- An understanding of job safety on the work site in the use of ladders and scaffolding
- Has the ability to work with limited supervision while performing building operations related duties in all areas of the campus
- Complies with the safe operation and maintenance of all related tools and shop equipment
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical component, programming, control system
- Ability to read and interpret manuals related to the job
- Ability to follow through and carry out assignments
- Knowledge of FMP policies and procedures
- Knowledge of hazards involved with work and safety measures to be taken
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to effectively work individually, and or as part of a team of diverse groups
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers
- Able to read and write English
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Completion of a College Diploma in Electronics or related field
- 2 years of experience in building automation systems or a related field.
- An understanding of job safety on the work site is required
