    Responsibilities

    Quality, Risk & Compliance - Methodology

  • Provide expertise and take an active lead in the Information Technology (IT) controls methodology and training strategy for the Firm
  • Assist in strategic and operational planning for the Firm, including the development of new ideas and methods to improve working procedures
  • Provide mentoring, motivation and coaching to team members so they can develop and thrive through clear goals, regular feedback and annual performance reviews
  • Work with other internal groups to drive Firm quality and efficiencies related to IT control audit methodologies
  • Plan trainings and amend/create templates, tools, and guides in English and French, to support the Firm's IT control audit methodology and training strategy
  • Provide support for CPAB inspections as required
  • Provide leadership and coordination in the planning, preparation, analysis, and reporting of IT audit processes for MNP's assurance practice
  • Work closely with the Assurance Professional Standards Group (APSG) to develop and maintain a methodology for identifying and responding to risks arising from the use of IT in audit engagements; ensure the methodology aligns with the Canadian Audit Standards
  • Provide support to MNP's assurance practice Change Leaders and Champions
  • Be the IT expert on selected audit files to support the engagement teams, and coordinate with Enterprise Risks Services (ERS) regarding the extent of ERS involvement when required
  • Work with industry groups to streamline industry-specific IT risks to gain efficiency and improve audit quality
  • Work with Quality Management (QM) to perform post file reviews to evaluate if IT risks have been properly identified and addressed in selected audit files
  • Work with other Quality, Risk and Compliance (QRC) groups as needed to support MNP's business needs
  • Participate in Assurance Innovation proof of concepts (PoCs) and pilots in conjunction with our QRC and Firm technology team members
  • Assurance

  • Lead teams to serve clients in complex audit and review engagements and tax compliance engagements; ensure budgeting, internal controls, and financial and accounting transactions
  • Provide industry and technical audit and assurance expertise through client discussions, reports, technical work, management presentations and high quality deliverables
  • Manage a range of clients by ensuring an understanding of their business, key risks and ways to deliver value; ensure client needs are met, relationships are built and accounts are growing
  • Plan and organize engagements and project financial parameters (budgets, work in progress, billing, collection and recognition of differences)
  • Ensure quality control and apply specialised knowledge to anticipate, identify, and resolve business issues and client financial records and reports
  • Network with the local business community
  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of competitive service offerings that meet client needs
  • Assist in strategic and operational planning for the client, and in developing new ideas and methods to improve working procedures
  • Provide mentoring, motivation and coaching to team members so they can develop and thrive through clear goals, regular feedback and annual performance reviews
  • Maintain flexibility to travel, as required
  • Skills and Experience

  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or similar designation
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant public accounting experience
  • Proven in-depth understanding of business, accounting, management, and exploration principles
  • Demonstrated ability to build interpersonal relationships, lead, and manage team members
  • Strong strategic planning and conceptual thinking skills
  • French proficiency (written and oral) is an asset
