What You'll Be Doing

  • Identifying opportunities and comparative options for efficiency and innovation in space use and allocation in line with Sheridan's key goals for space including maximizing student teaching and other student spaces and defragmenting space allocations (clustering); this involves comparing options by capturing scope, resources, and budget, and authoring and/or presenting the best options that will maximize chances of achieving institutional objectives;
  • Developing phased and prioritized plans to operationalize established institutional plans and strategies for Sheridan's spaces, such as the forthcoming Flexible Workspace Strategy (for employees' workspaces), considering all impacting factors and sensitivities including academic and fiscal cycles, other strategic and emergent priorities for space, change management strategies, strategic communication plans, resources, and budget;
  • Making datainformed recommendations for complex and multistakeholder space problems and improvements using Sheridan's master space database (ARCHIBUS), utilization data, and other institutional data sources;
  • Providing leadership and working with small project teams of PT and contracted support staff who undertake activities in the development stage of space and infrastructure projects including site visits, coordinating and conducting internal meetings and meetings with department and faculty stakeholders, ascertaining the project scope, determining highlevel timing of the project, determining highlevel budget estimates and required resources, assessing risks and constraints, conducting feasibility studies and producing block plans, and analyzing competing priorities related to other ongoing construction or infrastructure activities and other strategic space initiatives;
  • Producing succinct and comprehensive project charters for portfolios of projects in development for handoff to the project implementation team and overseeing workflow processes to get project charters reviewed and approved;
  • Performing other related duties, as assigned.

  • 3year diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Interior Design, Engineering or related field
  • 5 years of experience with facility, infrastructure, or spacerelated projects of varying complexity and interdependency (equivalency to be considered)
  • Demonstrated ability to create, read, and accurately interpret spatial plans, technical drawings, floor plans and maps
  • Knowledge of industryrelevant codes (e.g., Ontario Building Code, AODA) and regulations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of project management principles
  • The following will be considered assets:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • Project management training and/or certification
  • Prior leadership experience and managing staff in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of postsecondary administrative structure
  • Experience developing and/or implementing strategic plans
