This position is a 12-18 month contract as a Maternity Leave coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statement and internal management reporting
- Prepare monthly internal reporting package
- Prepare monthly external reporting to shareholders
- Prepare quarterly external reporting to lenders, and others as required
- Supervise staff in, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Accounting
- Ensure all key financial reconciliation are performed in a timely and accurate manner
- Enhance and continuously improve the reporting process, including opportunities to reduce cycle time, as appropriate
- Ensure proper internal controls are in place in all departments and are being followed
- Manage the annual yearend audit process
- Oversee commodity tax filings
- Assist in the annual budget process
- Assist in Policy development
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- 10 years in a finance supervisory/ managerial role including Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- CPA Accounting designation (CPA, CGA or CPA, CMA or CPA, CA)
- Experience with Sage 300, Business Intelligence reporting, and MISys an asset
- Experience with multicurrency financial systems
- Experience with US State Tax compliance an asset
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian GAAP
- Experience with standard costing and working in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of internal controls
- Possess a strong work ethic and ability to meet deadlines
- Takes ownership of tasks and sees them through to completion
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Acute attention to detail
- Ability and desire to motivate and train team members
- Experience in systems implementations is an asset
