How will you contribute to the team?


The Procurement Specialist is responsible for participation in development, testing, and rollout of purchasing systems, conducting training sessions and preparing training materials, manuals, presentations, etc., and acting as a single point of contact (SPOC) for all system related issues for requestors, buyers and material control.


  • Be specific regarding the "what" and "why" of the job outputs (but not detail the "how"). Details should include the type of activities or outputs controlled (e.g., performance, quality of deliverables).
  • If some duties include supervising or managing others, be specific "Is this related to the assignment of work or does it include the performance review as well?"
  • It is acceptable to use the Skills Descriptions agreed with the Bargaining Unit to describe the Purpose and General Accountabilities.
  • Optional: Include numerical references that may assist in understanding the responsibilities. For example, accountable for producing X units per week; number of client calls received daily; number of staffing actions managed in a year; size of budget managed, projects under management, etc.
  • Identify accountabilities, in order of importance from most important to least important, with an active verb (i.e, maintains, advises, controls) and summarize generally "what" and "whom" the activity affects or involves.
  • Actively participate in the development and testing of purchasing systems and the roll out including required process and procedure updates.
  • Act as a facilitator to ensure the technical requirements are correctly identified to facilitate material coding, requisition setup, and execution.
  • Acts as a single point of contact (SPOC) for all system related issues for Requestors, Buyers, and Material Control, logging and resolving all issues.
  • Work with Training and Development to plan and execute both classroom and oneonone sessions for users performing procure to pay activities.
  • Responsible for classroom and oneonone user training: Procurement processes and procedures, CMMS Express, SQD, Oracle iRequisition, myTRAK, as it relates to the following procurement touchpoints: Material Coding, Requisitioning, Request for Proposal, Purchasing, Supplier document deliverables, records, etc.
  • Prepare training material, manuals, checklists, presentations, and syllabus
  • Interface with Training and Development, Purchasing, Technical Community, and Material Control
  • Coordinate software enhancements between Procurement and IT/Engineering Tools
  • Update purchasing database to ensure all fields are complete and accurate.
