Job Summary


Serve as a logistics point of contact for domestic and international shipments and freight related requests on tracking and tracing, shipment coordination, and claims as well as supporting other logistics initiatives.

Due to the nature of this role, in-person attendance is required 5 days a week.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serves as the initial contact to help resolve domestic & international inbound or outbound transportation issues, assists or initiates all expedites shipments to ensure best mode and service is achieved.
  • Initiate and process freight claims for all modes and help identify root causes & lead corrective action, prepare various freight related documents (BOL's, SLI's, Commercial Invoices, freight invoices, etc).
  • Efficiently plan, coordinate, and track shipments to ensure best transit time possible, maintaining accurate logs.
  • Communicates and provides guidance on transportation and logistics processes with internal and external customers to achieve desired company results and ensure high customer satisfaction.
  • Analyzes and provides reports focused on monitoring and improving cycle time in the supply chain.
  • Assists with carrier management and provides input regarding carrier performance, selection, negotiations, etc., assist team members within the transportation department with various projects supporting the goals of the organization.
  • Develop and provide recommendations for new methods / procedures, implementation plans, schedules and written reports for management to evaluate.

Education & Experience


BS/BA in business administration, supply chain management or relevant field desired but not necessary, 3 plus years of experience in transportation and logistics.

Competencies - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs needed, especially Excel along with a working knowledge of logistics software (ERP/TMS/WMS).
  • Experience shipping all modes domestically and a familiarity with shipping internationally.
  • Knowledge of Lean Supply Chain concepts plus distribution models.
  • Takes initiative and follows through on promises; accepts responsibility for mistakes; protects confidentiality; voices disagreement with tact; accepts & implements change.
  • Exhibits cooperative behavior; anticipates customer needs & initiates service in a timely manner; exceeds service expectations at all times.
  • Possesses current industry & job knowledge; is organized & efficient; demonstrates effective time management & multitasking skills; makes decisions in a timely manner.
  • 1 year with parcel shipping will be considered an asset.
  • Some travel may be required for visiting carriers.
