Description

Purpose:

The Machine Shop Assistant provides support to the Machine Shop in the Bergeron Centre.

The Machine shop is available to all Lassonde students and researchers and allows individuals to conduct their machining and fabrication needs.

This space allows for undergraduate students to be trained on equipment and become competent in the machine shop operations.


Education:

Must be enrolled as a York student. Preference will be given to student who have completed 1st year studies.


Experience:

Previous experience in a Machine shop setting. Solidworks and Mastercam experience. Knowledge of machine shop safety and practices.


Skills:

Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering principles. Able to work independently and as part of a team.


Additional Notes:

Lifting/moving/carrying equipment or material of varying weights, up to 20lbs Operating heavy hand-held devices.
Working with tools or equipment or performing tasks that require the use of protective measures/devices and/or specific health and safety training
