Key accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with HR business partners and hiring managers within the business areas to provide assistance with recruiting needs and job vacancy specifications
  • Support hiring managers through the selection process while providing coaching on policies and best practices as needed
  • Conduct reference checks and coordinate background checks as required
  • Demonstrate and reinforce LAO's commitment to providing fair and equitable recruitment and selection practices
  • Embed diversity conversations in all recruitment and sourcing activities
  • Attend career fair events (inperson and /or virtually) across the province and represent the organization on occasion
  • Assist with other HR /recruitment related projects, tasks and duties as required
Required skills & experience

  • Experience recruiting in a unionized environment.
  • Proficiency working with an HRIS and applicant tracking system
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, manage a full work load and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate and educate hiring managers at all levels of the organization
  • Selfdirected and solutionoriented with a high sense of urgency to deliver results and meet business deadlines
Preferred Experience

  • Postsecondary diploma in human resources, business, or related discipline and/or equivalent combination of education
  • Experience recruiting within the public sector is an asset.
  • Experience recruiting within the legal sector
  • Experience working with equityseeking groups and championing diversity in the workplace
  • Working knowledge of provincial employment laws, human rights and privacy legislation, behavioralbased interviewing, and human resources best practices
  • French language skills is an asset
