CUPE Local 4400 Unit C - Grade M (12 Month)

$35.44 per hour

  • Reporting to the Senior Analyst, System Management, the Specialist III, System Management _
- will be responsible for providing support to TDSB's systems and cloud Infrastructure to ensure _
- optimal operation, performance, security and availability. _

  • The System Management section implements, manages, troubleshoots, makes recommendations _
- for optimizing, supports and maintains TDSB's technical infrastructure


Responsibilities include:
_
- monitoring and tuning;_
- _Assistance in configuration and provisioning of compute and storage infrastructure for_
- systems and client data;_
- _Messaging subsystems (Exchange Online and Gmail) administration;_
- _Managing Data backups/restores and Disaster Recovery plans;_
- _Assistance in security incidents, threats, and system vulnerabilities assessment and_
- remediation_
- _Maintaining and managing server endpoint protection systems;_
- _IIS (Internet Information Service) for both internal and external web services;_
- _Configuration and administration of file servers, printers and print queues;_
- _Health & Performance Monitoring systems administration (SCCM, SCOM, SPLUNK); and_
- _Participation in ITS service delivery processes such as problem, incident and change_
- management._


Summary of Duties:

Manage Windows systems and Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Services, ensuring optimal

performance and availability;
Provide incident and problem management support and troubleshooting for system issues;
Administer Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backend services;
Proactively monitor assigned server logs for signs of potential problems and reports results to

Analyst;
Maintain operating system and other software products ensuring systems are up-to-date and

secure;
Implement changes and enhancements to assigned systems including the testing of backout

options for such changes;
Participate in the integration of new systems and services;
Assist the Analyst and Senior Analyst in the provision of production environments in which

Assist the Analyst and Senior Analyst in the test proceedings where configuration changes can be

tested;
Assist the Analyst with maintenance and monitoring server endpoint protection and Data protection

mechanisms;

Assist the Analyst and Senior Analyst in documentation updates;
Design required solutions under guidance of Analyst and Senior Analysts;
Periodically will be assigned to work in other functional areas of Technical Services; and
Other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field plus eighteen months prior

experience in systems management, specifically with Windows systems, Microsoft Azure, and
Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Services within an Information Technology environment or an
equivalent combination of education and experience;
Completion of courses toward Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA/MCSE) certification;
Knowledge of Windows server technology (Windows 2012/2016/2019) and hybrid cloud

infrastructure Services (e.g., Windows Infrastructure (AD, DNS, DHCP), IIS Web Administration,
DevOps, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Systems Center Suite, Hyper-V Virtualization, endpoint
protection, Data Backups);
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace administration;
Understanding of ITSM information/process/technology architectures and IT service delivery

frameworks such as ITIL (e.g., Incident, Problem and Change Management);
Understanding of cloud technologies including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS;
Proficiency in the use of current Windows systems and Azure monitoring tools and the ability to

interpret system logs (SCOM, SPLUNK, Azure Monitor)
Proficiency using Windows PowerShell scripts and Power Automate;
Good oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills;
Strong analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills; and
Proven ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.


Special Requirements:

Available on call evenings, weekends and extended vacation periods;
Shift hours and lunch hours will be staggered to ensure operational continuity; and
Willingness to work overtime as required.


Hours:35 hours per week***
Work Year:12 months***
