Role Summary and Purpose


Building Attendants play an important role in ensuring our buildings are clean and presentable, and our residents are cared for outside of standard business hours.

They assist with basic light maintenance and winter cleaning to ensure the building/campus is running smoothly.

They also provide a necessary supportive role to the building/campus to ensure after-hours emergencies are handled in a quick and customer centric way.


Role responsibilities

  • Cleaning: _
  • Follow the outlined schedule for the building/campus to ensure the common areas of the building are clean and presentable in a timely manner.
  • Assist the onsite Assistant Property Manager, Maintenance Technician, and where applicable Grounds Technician when required for light outdoor cleaning including garbage collection on the building/ campus grounds.
  • Be available for afterhours cleaning emergencies when required.
  • Light Maintenance: _
  • Follow the outlined schedule for the building/campus to ensure the garbage and recycling bins are moved when required.
  • Assist the onsite Assistant Property Manager, Maintenance Technician and where applicable Grounds Technician when required for light outdoor winter maintenance at main entrance and exit snow clearing and salting.
  • Afterhours, work with the Fire Department to give access in the event of a fire and turn off fire panel once cleared.
  • Be available for afterhours emergencies when required and be familiar with core light maintenance items

This includes:

  • Knowing the location of water shut offs within a building following our building water shut off guidelines and how to turn water off to a unit in the event of a flood or leak.
  • Knowledge of our core contractors to contact in the event of an emergency.
  • Basic plumbing duties afterhours including snaking clogged toilets or drains and cartridge replacement
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly, and able to move appliances afterhours (fridge or stove) in the event one is inoperable and must be changed.
  • Afterhours and weekends, assist with placing elevators on hold during move in and move outs.

Local Availability:

  • Due to the afterhours nature of this role, this position must live within a close proximity from the building, per the discretion of the respective Property Manager.
  • Afterhours commitments will be split amount the other Building Attendants within the campus, ranging from every other week/weekend, to once every three weeks/weekends.

Qualifications, Skills & Requirements

  • One (1) years experience as a Building Manager, Building Supervisor, On-Call Cleaner, or similar building assistant/management/cleaning position with oncall responsibilities.
  • High attention to detail
  • High level of customer service
  • Familiarity with building systems
  • Police clearance check
  • A drivers license and vehicle
