Are you a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician looking to trouble shoot and fix construction equipment in a high volume equipment rental shop? Maybe you're looking to work on heavy equipment while staying close to home - our shop is located in south central Edmonton not too far off of the Whitemud Do you want to assist in the technical and knowledge development of Heavy Equipment Technician apprentices? Reporting to the Service Manager, the Heavy Equipment Technician is required to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair large and small equipment based on the Service Departments prioritization in order to ensure that all equipment dispatched to the client site is functional and meets both regulatory and certificate requirements.

In this position, some travelling to sites in and around the Edmonton region will be required and this position will be required to participate in on-call rotation for emergency repairs.


Responsibilities

  • Inspections on Inbound Equipment
  • Diagnose and complete repairs on company equipment as prioritized by Service Coordinator or Service Manager
  • Confer with Service Manager and Service Coordinator regarding the extent of repairs need to inform repair/replace decisions
  • In conjunction with Service Coordinator and parts department, order parts/materials required to complete repairs
  • Ensure that all repairs remain within budget requirements
  • Ensure that all work is completed in a safe manner
  • Enter timesheets, work orders, and other inspection related items electronically
  • Complete work orders daily, submitting them for review to the Service Coordinator
  • Perform work in both the field (outdoor construction site setting) and the shop
  • Inform and/or educate users on site regarding required equipment service and maintenance
  • Work collaboratively with other personnel
  • Act in a courteous manner in order to project a positive company image
  • Escalate any issues to the Service Manager or Service Coordinator that this role cannot resolve in a satisfactory manner, within the agreed upon service levels
  • Other duties, as required

Requirements:


  • Journeyperson Certification for Heavy Equipment Technician
  • Knowledge on working with Telehandlers, boom lifts, excavators, skid steers and heaters is required.
  • Previous experience with construction equipment rental industry would be an asset
  • Maintain continuous professional development to acquire skills and knowledge to optimize personal development and job growth
  • Valid Class 5 license with a clean driver abstract
  • Must speak, read, and write English fluently
