Position Summary
The Calgary Stampede is looking for a seasonal Retail Specialist for merchandise sales.


The Retail Specialist is responsible for overseeing Calgary Stampede Programming retail stores including the Calgary Stampede Merch Booths at the Coca-Cola Stage and the Big 4 Roadhouse, The battle of the bulls, as well as the ticketed experience in the BMO Centre.

This role involves overseeing a team of sales associates, coordinating inventory management, reconciling sales reporting implementing sales policies and reporting, and ensuring a positive shopping experience for attendees.

Responsibilities:


  • Use established standards to drive customer service excellence to every aspect of the various retail space, including store appearance, display of merchandise, product placement, inventory management, story layout, and selling procedures.
  • Lead the team by example and inspire and coach employees in real time.
  • Oversee the maintenance of inventory and stock as well as identify any loss prevention issues in order to minimize shrinkage and loss of assets.
  • Facilitate inventory management, including receiving, organizing, and stocking merchandise. Maintain accurate records of merchandise sales and inventory counts.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts of inventory to ensure Quantity on Hand numbers are always up to date and accurate.
  • Complete weekly Visual and Operational Walkthrough (VOW) report and attend the biweekly meeting.
  • Be the frontend single point of contact for resolving and dealing with customer issues in a positive and professional manner.
  • Liaise with Calgary Stampede venue management to ensure all employees are complying with established company procedures and protocol.
  • Demonstrate expectations and standards and set the tone for employees to follow.
  • Supervise a team of merchandise sales associates. Provide training, guidance, and coaching to ensure the team follows inventory policies and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Work collaboratively with other merchandise sales associates and event staff to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum High School Preferred
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • 23 years of retail experience
  • Management experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
  • Cash handling experience and basic math skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize workload to ensure continuing productivity.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work late evenings, and weekends, during the Calgary Stampede.
  • Team oriented, enthusiastic, creative, wellgroomed, reliable, and punctual.
  • Familiarity with Lightspeed POS (R-Series) an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of music and familiarity with concert merchandise is a plus.
