Your Opportunity:


Reporting to the Program Manager for Adult Forensics and FACS at Alberta Hospital Edmonton, the Unit Manager will work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to provide leadership, foster team building and lead recovery-orientated clinical care within Forensic Services.

This role is responsible for the administrative support and direction to the professional and auxiliary staff on the unit and to promote optimal patient care executed within the context of the unit and program goals.

The essential components of this front-line management position are both administrative and clinical focusing on patient recovery goals.

Essential to this leadership role is the use of effective communication skills in interactions with the Program Manager, staff, and other program representatives.

Description:

This position is responsible for managing several administrative and clinical functions that guide the day-to-day operations of the unit


Administration:
Manages administrative activities for professional and auxiliary staff, including recruitment and evaluations. Explores creative ways of using resources more efficiently and effectively for the unit and makes recommendations for resource efficiency. Monitors clinical, workload, and management information systems.


Clinical:
Investigates complaints, resolves issues (both patient and staff), and follows up where required. Promotes safety and security of staff, patients, families, and other parties. Promotes and facilitates activities that enhance the quality of work life, personal wellness, and safe working practices among staff.

Ensures the effective and efficient admission, discharge, and transfer of patients to/from the unit and ensures the coordination of additional healthcare supports as required.

Facilitates an integrated continuum of recovery-oriented patient care service delivery through collaborative relationships with external agencies.

Participates in the overall quality of clinical practice and patient care by assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the program's quality improvement activities.

Works in partnership with the program physicians to maintain and/or enhance program goals and objectives. Makes recommendations for changes in clinical standards and practices. Participates in regular multidisciplinary meetings to ensure overall management of the plan of care and address issues. Engages all disciplines to address and resolve unit specific issues and concerns. Provides support while promoting and facilitating effective multidisciplinary team dynamics (team building).

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a recognized Health Discipline required. 1-2 years related supervisory, or leadership experience required. 2-4 years current relevant clinical experience required. Active Health Discipline Registration required. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

As required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant clinical experience in addictions and mental health is preferred. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
