Highly motivated and committed to contributing to a system that is responsible for educating our future, you will support Senior Staff, Principals, Vice-Principals, Managers, and employees in a variety of areas, ensuring our schools are staffed to the highest standard based on qualifications, experience, diversity, and cultural enrichment, in order to provide the highest quality of educational experience for our students.


In this capacity, the Human Resources Consultant oversees all aspects of staffing / central hiring processes for one or more portfolios, which may include leading and coordinating Board Staffing Committees and associated processes, recruitment, selection, orientation, pay administration for new contract and long-term occasional staff as well as approval of leaves of absence, and facilitating and processing transfers, lay-offs, surplus/redundancies, resignations, and retirements.

In addition, this position is a key member of collective bargaining teams and supports colleagues, as necessary.


The Limestone District School Board is situated in historic Kingston, on the shores of scenic Lake Ontario, the Limestone District School Board serves more than 19,000 students in 55 schools and 5 alternative education centres, covering a geographic area of 7,719 square kilometres across the City of Kingston, the Townships of Central Frontenac, North Frontenac, South Frontenac, Addington Highlands, Loyalist, Stone Mills, the Frontenac Islands and the Town of Greater Napanee.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Experience


Post secondary diploma in Human Resource Management or related field or an equivalent level of education/training and at least 3 years of relevant, related experience.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

Exceptional customer service orientation with a focus on results.

Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to foster positive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Knowledge of effective recruitment practices and experience staffing large, complex organizations.


Experience working in a unionized environment, including interpreting, and administering policies/procedures, collective agreements, participating in labour-management meetings, and supporting grievance and arbitration processes.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

Proven ability to exercise sound judgement.

Excellent time management and organization skills.

Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing priorities and system needs.

Proven ability to think outside the box, exploring new and innovative ways to achieve optimal results.
