Production Duties:


  • Ensures all team members follow engineering work procedures.
  • Reviews, maintains and implements daily production schedule(s) to identify daily production goals and targets.
  • Plans, coordinates and facilitates daily production meeting (35 min) to communicate departmental production goals. Listens and responds to team member input and feedback.
  • Supervises guides and directs all production activities of team members on a daily basis. Makes midcourse corrections and adjustments with the workforce as required.
  • Ensures employee productivity levels are maintained by being visible and accessible to all employees on the plant floor. Motivates and praises each team member daily.
  • Responsible for order requisition of consumable supplies.

Process/Quality Improvement Duties;

  • Works with the Maintenance Department occasionally on equipment improvements.
  • Ensures production standards are followed by team members in the department as required.
  • Cooperates with Engineering Department to make changes in the product to improve it; according to production restrictions. Reviews changes with engineering to ensure changes are feasible.
Supervises any research and development that needs to be done in the department (e.g., Production prototype).


Education and Knowledge Required:


  • High school diploma required. Secondary education considered an asset. Combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Welding certification considered an definite asset.
  • Knowledge of production manufacturing process and workflow. Meridian Manufacturing Inc. product knowledge is an asset.
Knowledge of quality assurance and quality improvement protocols and methods is a definite asset.


Experience and Technical Skills Required:


  • Minimum three to five years related experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment.
  • Equipment or machine operation experience using manufacturing equipment (e.g., shears, bending machines, punches, etc.) is a recognized asset.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to work and relate with/to all team members at various organizational levels.
  • Organizational and time and priority management skills to organize daytoday work effectively in a fastpaced production environment.
  • Judgement and decisionmaking skills to make production and decisions.
  • Basic blueprint reading and mathematical skills to read and understand manufacturing documents.
  • Team building and motivational skills to maintain and achieve appropriate productivity and job satisfaction levels.
  • Basic project management skills to manage departmental project production schedule(s).

Abilities and Competencies Required:


  • Leadership abilities including: motivation, conflict resolution and team building for effective team leadership.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to demonstrate team player behaviours, and lead a production team.
  • Ability to continuously learn and adapt to changing conditions in a fastpaced, everchanging production facility.
  • Ability to work and lead independently, and use sound judgement to make appropriate decisions to allow for continuous operations as scheduled.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to use all measuring equipment (tape measure, micrometer, verineer, squares, protractors).
  • Implements, monitors, and maintains quality program as required. Ensures product quality standards are met.
  • Performs all other job activities as necessary and as assigned.

Working Conditions:


  • Shop environment
- welding smoke, paint fumes, high noise level, dust, and some chemical exposure.

  • Outside for short periods of time
  • Some overtime and flexibility in work schedule is required as business demands due to business cycle.
  • Fast paced working environment with ability to adapt based on prioritization

Initiated Training Requirements:


  • Blueprint reading.
  • Attends and participates in learning and development courses and conferences as required.
  • Attends and participates in Company new hire orientation.
  • Participates in inhouse health and safety training (e.g., First Aid, Safety Management, WHMIS).
  • Production Supervisors may be crosstrained in other plant production areas to increase operational flexibility, backup coverage responsibilities and for job enrichment and satisfaction (e.g., Paint, Roll-Forming, Metal Fabrication and Shipping Supervisors).

Salary:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
